Easton Royal Academy has been awarded the prestigious 'Music Mark' award in recognition of its outstanding commitment to providing high-quality music education for all students. The award, given by the UK Association for Music Education, celebrates the school's exceptional dedication to ensuring that every child has access to rich and diverse musical experiences.
At the heart of our music curriculum is a weekly one-hour lesson for every child, ensuring that music education is a core part of school life. In addition, all children in years 3 and 4 benefit from two years of free trumpet lessons, giving them a unique opportunity to learn an instrument and develop skill in reading staff notation.
We also have a commitment to live music. Over the past academic year, children have been treated to inspiring performances, including a live beatboxing workshop from BeatTechnique and an unforgettable folk music performance by Filkin's Drift. This emphasis on live music ensures that children not only learn about music in the classroom but also experience its vibrancy and diversity first-hand.
For us, our investment in music is about our value of aspiration - we want children to aim high and we want to provide opportunities and experiences that inspire and support them to do this.
The 'Music Mark' award is a testament to the school’s vibrant musical culture, and the recognition only strengthens our commitment to nurturing the next generation of musicians.
